From the New York Times bestselling author of The Kremlin Conspiracy comes this latest international thriller about a terrifying nuclear alliance among three world powers - Russia, Iran, and North Korea - and the man who must halt their deadly strategy.

Shot out of the air in enemy territory in the middle of the greatest international crisis since the end of the Cold War, former U.S. Secret Service agent Marcus Ryker finds himself facing an impossible task. Not only does he have to somehow elude detection and capture by Russian special forces, but he must convince his own government to grant safe harbor to the one man responsible for the global mayhem - Russian double agent and assassin Oleg Kraskin. While frantically negotiating with his contacts in the White House, Marcus learns that the unstable North Korean regime plans to use the international chaos as a smokescreen to sell nuclear weapons to Iran. With the fate of the entire free world on the line, Marcus makes a deal with the U.S. government - he will go back to work as an international operative and track down the WMDs before they end up in the hands of those with the determination and the means to use them. Marcus and Oleg worked together once before to avert a world war. Can they now find a way to stop world destruction?

"The 44th US President sent $1.7 billion in cash to Iran. Author Rosenberg's plot has Iran using that money to purchase nuclear weapons (not manufacturing them as per treaty) from North Korea who has launch equipment to sell as well as five nuclear rockets to sell, originally purchased from Russia. Iran and North Korea can threaten all nations, if not stopped. Finding the ship that transports this exchange of weaponry becomes the last step in the framework for the Persian gamble.

The Kremlin Conspiracy (Rosenberg) ends with assassination of the Russian President. The Persian Gamble begins with the assassin escaping Moscow with Marcus Ryker and the pilot for a US commercial jet. After that, most chapters involve complex, violent activity, somewhat familiar, but refurbished and re-sequenced. Ryker becomes nearly super human, more so than Arliss Cutter (author Marc Cameron) and Court Gentry (author Mark Greany). Marcus Ryker's dependence on God repeats what author Rosenberg published in The Kremlin Conspiracy."

The Persian Gamble Audible Audio Edition Joel C Rosenberg Adam Grupper Brilliance Audio Books Reviews

  • Yes, it just came out and I really did finish it that fast. This book is that good. Even better than the Kremlin Conspiracy. The worst case scenario of what if Iran really did buy nukes from N Korea? The scenario is perfectly wargamed out. The hero has to go from the frying pan to the fire. In a catch 22. I didn't want to put the book down because I had to find out what happened next. It slows down for just a bit just to speed right back up. Like riding in Blackhawk helicopter. The perfect flow. That's all I'm going to say. I hate reviews that spoil the story.
  • I have enjoyed everyone of Joel Rosenberg's books but this one is the best one I have read - I had a terrible time putting it down and finally admitted to myself that I might as well accept that I wasn't going to accomplish much of anything else until I finished reading it. I also had a personal interest in reading it as my ex-husband (who was a career Army officer) was stationed in Tehran, Iran in 1978 so he, our children and I were living there at the time that the country was literally falling apart - the Shah left about a month after the children and I were evacuated back to the United States. My ex was still there when the Shah left and the Ayatollah Khomeini arrived in country. If you are into reading an international book full of intrigue, I recommend strongly that you get your hands on this one.
  • Please don’t ever stop writing. I’ve read all your books and am impatiently waiting for the next one. What’s Ryker going to do next. I wish everyone in government, local, state, and federal would read Rosenberg’s books, take the potential realities to heart, and then DO something. I think the future of our country and the world depend on it.

  • I have always been impressed with Joel's ability to tell a good story but I would have liked to read more about Markus and followup on his life after the final battle; perhaps maybe introduce striking up a relationship with one of the lady characters he worked with throughout the novel or seeing his friend finally come to Christ. I couldn't help but feel sad for him and all his losses of family and close friends and no real resolution to finish the end of the book. The ending seemed abrupt like Joel wasn't allowed to continue because of publishing deadlines or whatever. A post script of Markus's life would have made for a better close than just ending after the final battle.
  • I am a big fan or Joel C. Rosenberg. I buy his novels as soon as they come out, and "follow" him so I can be one of the first to read his works.

Unfortunately this novel is totally unlike his usual writing style. The story is disjointed and even confusing in a few areas. Joel usually ties all the elements of the story together and moves at an accelerating pace as you progress through the story. This time it is totally different.

It is still a readable book, but I am almost convinced it was written by a ghost writer, not Joel himself. I will rank this 3 stars, I cannot rank it any higher though, as a long time fan of Joel and his work, this is NOT his normal quality. It is only mediocre at best.
  • I love all of Joel Rosenberg's books that he has written. Just got this book a few days ago and I am sure I woon't be disappointed. Wish Joel would go his books made into movies. They are so good that Christians and none Christians would enjoy them
  • I loved this book. Couldn't quit reading it. The Persian Gamble started where the last book stopped. It was exciting from the first page. Jumping out of a plane during a blizzard in Russia, where everyone is looking for them. Marcus was so good at thinking on his feet. God was watching out for them and Marcus gave him the credit which was wonderful to read. The politicians were the same ole idiotic, egotistical, bureaucracy that we see in today's government, no matter the country. They were going to throw Marcus, Jenny and Oleg to the wolves, regardless that they saved the world and millions of people and still were trying to work toward that end. I can't say more because I would give away to much. What happens to General Yoon and his plan to defect with his wife and mother in law. What happens on the mission to retrieve him. You will have to read to find out but you won't be disappointed
